Fall bucket list update
A month has flown by since I created my Fall Bucket List. I guess that means it’s time to account for my progress. So here goes…
Health and fitness
1. Try a new workout.
Nothing yet. I hope to check this one off by the time I report again next month. If anything, I’m getting more lax about my physical activity, so I need this one.
2. Go on at least one fall hike.
Larry and I went on several hikes around Hawkes Landing (above Midway, Utah) this month. I had hoped to try a new hike, but that just wasn’t in the cards, so I’m counting these old familiar ones!
3. Fix up my exercise room (with Larry’s help).
Does talking about it count for anything? I certainly hope to have more to report by next month. Larry did give me this rack for my race medals and bibs. It will go on the wall in my workout room.
Joy
1. Spend one full week at Hawkes Landing.
Mission accomplished–and it was lovely. You can see more photos here.
2. Buy and put together a jigsaw puzzle.
As the overachiever that I am 🙂 I bought three new puzzles and a board to build them on. The actual putting them together is proving to be trickier. It’s hard! I should have started with the easier 300-piece puzzle. Luckily, I have my grandson to help me.
3. Weekly pumpkin sampling through November.
No problem meeting this goal. This one has been fun for the tastebuds, but not so good for the waistline. As you can see, for the most part, I’ve neglected the healthier options in favor of the fat- and sugar-laden ones. Delicious and joyful!
Learning and growth
1. Create a So What? Now What? Facebook page.
Mission accomplished! You can visit it here.
2. Learn one new blogging skill.
Mission accomplished. I used Give Away Tools for my Blogiversary Giveaway, and it was easy and effective. Yeah!
3. Read Let Your Life Speak.
I have started this book, and I am loving it. Thanks, Anneliese, for the recommendation. I’m sure I’ll have more to say about this once I finish it.
Relationships
1. Research and plan a special activity for the granddaughters. (Grandsons will be on the winter list.)
I have started researching ideas, but don’t have anything scheduled yet. Stay tuned.
2. Send three handwritten notes.
Two down; one to go. The exercise of writing of these letters has been very rewarding in and of itself and the response heartwarming. I highly recommend this exercise to everyone.
3. Reach out to my best friend from elementary school and junior high.
Nothing to report yet on this one.
Well, that’s it for my bucket list update. I’d love to hear what you’ve been doing–either in the comments or by linking your list below. Need some bucket list inspiration? Check out the other lists in the link-up.
You’ve accomplished so much this month. I feel more like a sloth than usual! I’m not on FB but would like to have a presence there for my blog. Can you do that? Do you know? Your success creating a FB page gives me hope.
You do have to create a personal account in order to build the fan page, but you don’t have to use the personal page. You can do all your posting on the fan page. Give it a try!
Thanks for the info. Sounds doable for me.
Oooh! I didn’t think to put books on my bucket list!!
Last time around, I just said “read at least three books,” but this time I had a specific personal development book I wanted to be sure to read. I enjoy reading, but don’t always make the time. Putting it on my bucket list means I “have” to, right? 🙂
And here’s why I love this series…I discover so many ways to enrich my own life…pumpkin food and drink to savor (laden with fat and sugar, the only way to do pumpkin right), books to read (now on my Goodreads to-read list), and that great puzzle board. Please would you email shopping details for it? mommyhon333@hotmail.com
Hawkes Landing is such a gorgeous place to escape and refocus. Hurray for time spent there.
And you are well on your way to completing this great list. Well done.
Thanks Leslie. I love the inspiration I get from the other lists too. Thanks for bringing us together. I’ll email you the info on the puzzle board.
I am so glad that you met (and surpassed) your ‘Joy” goal. I believe that was the most important one of all.
I love your goals — very meaningful!
Thanks Donna. I guess in a roundabout way, all the goals are designed to bring joy at some level–some (like pumpkin deliciousness) are just more direct. 🙂
I created a fall list last year…it had things like visit a corn maze (I had never done one), make s’mores, eat a caramel apple, and go fall-leaf looking. It ended up including a zip line in the trees (great colors) ..something from my possibilities list that became a random opportunity! PThis year we’ve been so busy, I didn’t do a fall list…and am missing it. Fall is my favorite season. Curious what’s on your winter list!
That sounds like a lovely fall list. I may borrow some of those next year. Fall is also my favorite time of year. Perhaps you’ll join us for the winter bucket lists!
I love the idea of a daily life bucket list (as opposed to the grand “what I want to do before I die” bucket lists). I have looked at a few and am tempted to start one of my own. Being retired makes it all the more important to have goals, fat-laden and otherwise. I’ve so far resisted the idea of starting a FB page for my blog (seems like a lot of extra work) but maybe I should rethink that too.
Janis, I definitely recommend a daily or seasonal bucket list. Maybe you’ll join us for winter. As far as the FB page, I use mine to share my blog posts and others–that’s it–so it really isn’t much work at all.
Christie let me know if you would like to go to Orange theory on Monday at the 4:30 class. If so you will need to call them and sign up for the free class. It is the one in cottonwood heights.801-463-6748
Thanks for the invite Colette. I have a commitment this Monday, but would like to schedule an Orange Theory class with you. If I don’t get it on the calendar, it won’t happen. I’ll email you to firm up a date. Thanks again!
Breaking your list down to season and category has inspired me. Maybe I’ll do the same! Thanks! ~ Lynn
Thanks Lynn. I find it makes it more manageable and it helps me focus on the values that are important to me. Maybe you’ll join us for the winter bucket list link-up!
You’re doing great with your list, Christie! I like the rack for your race medals and bibs. Do more of what brings you joy, including more pumpkin deliciousness 🙂
Thanks Natalie.
Hi Christie! Looks you are well underway for your Fall Bucket list. I really love the idea of your race bib and medal rack. That is a super neat idea.
I also love the idea of a handwritten note. How fun to send, but also fun to receive.
Thanks Danielle. I’m looking forward to setting up my exercise room and hanging the medals.
What Leslie said! Reading other people’s blog lists is so inspirational, and I am feeling a definite uptick in my quality of life as a result!
Now onward to your update – Love the idea of a puzzle board because we are a family of puzzle doers as well, except deciding where to build them can be a bit tricky! Fall hiking – must be gorgeous in the mountains, and something we simply don’t have here. Here, in S. California Fall hiking in our local canyons just means everything is dead! Pumpkin goodies – so deadly I agree!
Looking forward to your next update, Christie!
Thanks Tamara. It sounds like you need a fall hiking trip to Utah! I’m pretty sure I will need a mid-winter trip to sunny Southern California. 🙂
I love your pumpkin tasting goal! I’ll have to add that one in. The hiking, time with grandchildren and all sound wonderful.
Thanks Juhli! It really has been a fun list this season.
Good for you for writing some letters! That’s on my list too, and I STILL haven’t done it! Goodness gracious! I need to just do it.
I love hiking and baking too! Exercise, not so much!
Happy Autumn!!!
Hiking counts as exercise! 🙂 I had a difficult time starting the letters too, but really enjoyed it once I did. Happy autumn to you too!
