Temporarily closed for reconstruction

The end of the year is approaching. It’s a perfect time for taking stock and making changes. For me, this year, that means updating my blog. (I still have the same theme and photos that I used the day I started my blog in October 2014!) It’s time for a remodel.

Different colored paint smears.

I will be taking a few weeks off from posting in order to focus on that work and enjoy the holidays. I hope you will join me again in my new digs after the first of the year.

See you in 2023!

What do you do when you are trapped in a seemingly never-ending winter? Well, in this case, when life gave me lemons… I made lemon pound cake. And it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. And I do. (Thank you Wendy at The Monday Box for the recipe.) I also read…

  • I need a little Christmas

Having just returned home from a sunny beach vacation, I seem to be struggling to make the transition to winter, and with it, the Christmas season. Typically I jump from Thanksgiving to Christmas with enthusiasm. As soon as the last piece of pumpkin pie is finished, I can’t wait to crank up the Christmas music,…

  • Rewind: Grand (adjective): having more importance than others

As this post publishes, I am on my way home from four glorious (I’m sure) days spent with my children and grandchildren at beautiful Bear Lake. So it seems appropriate that I should select a rewind post that’s all about the joys of grandparenting. So, without further ado, here it is. This post was originally…

A month has gone by since I posted my Winter Bucket List, so I am pleased to present my first check-in. Health & fitness 1. Choose a race for 2019 and get registered. Mission accomplished! I registered for the Swiss Days 10k in Midway. I chose that one, because it takes place late in the…

  • Intrepid possibilities: summer wrap-up and autumn reveal

“Most people are not really free. They are confined by the niche in the world that they carve out for themselves. They limit themselves to fewer possibilities by the narrowness of their vision.” ~V.S. Naipaul As you may recall, I chose INTREPID and POSSIBILITIES as my 2025 Words of the Year. These two words together…

  1. I’ve been toying with the idea of redoing my blog template over the next few weeks, too. But then I remember it’s December so I’ll probably just goof off instead. Good luck & Happy Holidays!

    1. I understand the feeling, Ally. I’ve been toying with the idea for a while too, but was pushed into making the change now, as my old theme isn’t compliant with the latest version of WordPress. Happy holidays to you and yours!

    1. Thank you Janis. I’ve been thinking of updating my theme for awhile. I was given a shove when my old theme wasn’t compliant with the latest WordPress update. Happy holidays to you and yours!

  2. Nothing like a new year coming for a refresh. May it all go well. Thanks for your contributions to my blog link up too…and it will continue from 4 Jan. Happy Holidays, Christie. I look forward to seeing the ‘new look’ too. Denyse.

  3. Hi Christie – have a great Christmas and I look forward to seeing your new, fresh site in the new year. I used to change mine around quite regularly, but now I just update my profile pic occasionally to reflect the fact that I’m 8 years older than when I started! See you in the new year xx I still have another couple of posts before I rest over Christmas/New Year and then back with my new #WOTY for 2023.

    1. Hello Leanne. I do feel a little “guilty” every time I look at my seven-year-old pic. I just didn’t have a good one to replace it with. Then when my theme “broke” with the WordPress update, I decided it was time to put in the effort to update everything. I look forward to connecting with you in the new year. Until then, enjoy the holidays!
