Thank you notes: little bits of gratitude from February 2024

It’s easy to get so caught up in the hustle of life that we forget to appreciate the small miracles that happen every day. I created the monthly Thank You Notes post to help me relive the happy moments, savor the gratitude, and share them with you. I hope they also inspire you to think about what you have to be grateful for and share them with us.

I won’t include any of the things I shared last week as part of my February goal progress, but if you are interested, you can see them here. They are definitely part of my gratitude list for the month.

Thank you FeelLove Coffee

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.

…for the motivational words, and of course…

FeelLove iced latte.

…the delicious lavender honey latté. And speaking of lavender…

Thank you lavender…

Lavender blooming.

…for the early blooms that smell heavenly. And thank you to everyone on social media who suggested things I could do with fresh lavender.

Thank you Mother Nature…

Cloudy skies over Southern Utah.

…for these most impressive clouds. Their ever-changing beauty slowed down my walk considerably, so I could ooh and ahh and, of course, snap photos, but it was so worth it.

Thank you jigsaw puzzle…

Jigsaw puzzle of Montmartre with one piece missing.

…for reminding me that you can be imperfect and still be beautiful and fun and worthy of someone’s time and attention. Can you spot the missing piece?

Thank you Kobe Japanese Restaurant

Gyoza ramen.

…for the wonderful gyoza ramen. Thank you sisters for the night out. And thank you blogging friends for forgiving the poor lighting of this photo. It was the only one I had, and I so wanted to share this deliciousness with you.

Thank you Arvanitis/Carrell family…

Grandparents with grandchildren.

…for the most enjoyable birthday dinner. Happy belated birthday to Wells and Tessa! And thank you Ashley for allowing me to poach this photo from your Facebook post.

  1. Your photo of the Japanese meal looks so delicious. It’s not let lunchtime yet, but man I could go for that.

What are you grateful for today? Warmer temps. It’s oddly too warm here, like 40ºF above normal BUT it’s wonderful to have the windows open again.

Have you ever made something edible with lavender? Yes, I use Herbs de Provence in some chicken dishes. Yummy.

    1. The ramen really was so delicious, Ally. I’m ready for more! The weather has been strange across the country. As I understand it, you are probably getting a cold front now after the delightful spring tease. I just checked, my herbs de Provence doesn’t include lavender, but I bet I could dry some and add it myself. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. When I read your gratitude posts, I smile, I breathe deep, and I get a sense of calmness. I am thankful for blue skies, a light breeze and a lovely 75 degree day. I am thankful for a really compassionate CPA who helped me with the final taxes on my mom. I am thankful for my cardio drumming friends who are supporting me as a leader in class. I am thankful for slow days and being able to take time for a conversation with the town clerk, time for running errands, and time to read some blog posts midday!

    1. I’m so happy to hear that, Pat. That’s exactly the effect I’m looking for with these posts. You truly have so much to be grateful for. Thanks for sharing your joyful moments and for the kind words of blogging encouragement.

  3. That ramen was good! I’m guessing FeelLove is down south? That coffee sounds delicious, and unique.
Today I’m feeling grateful for mom’s journals. Although some of them have been hard to read, lately they have helped me to remember and feel close to her. 💜

    1. Yes, Cindy, FeelLove is in St. George. We may have to go there next time you visit! I’m glad you are connecting with Mom through her journals. I always enjoy the bits you share with me.

  4. Love your thank you notes, Christie. I am thankful that our bathroom renovations are almost completed. I’m thanking you for linking up to #WWWhimsy and I’m thankful to Mother Nature for making my morning walks joyful with all the wildlife at the lake. Have a great March, Christie. x

    1. Renovating your bathroom is such a big project, Sue. I can imagine you will be happy to have that completed. Thank you again for hosting #WWWhimsy while Min is on a blogging break. Happy March to you!

  5. Loved the family photo Christie – so much love and enjoyment of being together. Also liked the coffee quote – something to inspire us all. And jigsaws with one piece missing are still worthy of our time (although I prefer to know where the piece is missing from before I start – but that’s not always guaranteed).

    1. Thank you, Leanne. This was a brand new puzzle, so I was quite disappointed that it was missing a piece. I thoroughly searched my house for it, so I don’t believe I dropped it anywhere. Because it was a distinct color, I knew about halfway through there was likely a missing piece. The puzzle still provided me with several hours of enjoyment, so I can’t complain too much.

  6. Your gratitude posts always leave me smiling. It’s the small things that make me happiest also. I’ve never eaten or cooked anything with lavendar and have never heard of it in coffee. I think I’d be tempted to give it a try. Your family photo is beautiful Christie, so many gorgeous smiles.

  7. I’ve not made anything with lavender myself, but I once ate a simply luscious crème brulé which was lavender flavoured. So subtle, but *chef’s kiss* perfection.

I am grateful that today the clouds have lifted. Not the weather ones, but the ones in my mood and emotions. Today I am smiling 🙂

  8. Hi Christie, your puzzle with the missing piece reminds me of the jigsaw my daughter was doing while I was helping her after my grandson had surgery recently. She got the puzzle done but there was one piece missing. She finally found it in her work bag, it had fallen in there – she was very happy to find it! Lots of lovely things to be thankful for – the main one being my grandson has recovered well from his surgery! Thanks for joining us for #wwwhimsy

    1. Hello Debbie! Finding a lost puzzle piece is a definite jolt of joy, like finding money in your pocket that you forgot you had. I am pleased to hear that your grandson recovered well. Wishing you and the family health and happiness!

    1. It was a pretty puzzle, Joanne, and since my husband and I have been to Montmartre, it was extra fun. I hope you are able to enjoy the inspiration of Mother Nature this month. Here’s to a happy March!
