February celebrations day-by-day

“Life is a journey, and the key to a happy journey lies in celebrating each step along the way.”

~Richard Carlson

I chose CELEBRATE as my 2026 Word of the Year (WOTY). One way I’m putting that word into practice is to take note of the many things I have to celebrate…large and small…during the month and share the highlights with you on the final Tuesday of each month.

Another way of putting my word into practice is to keep a Celebration Journal. Actually, I’ve been keeping a gratitude journal for several years now. For 2026, I’ve made a minor adjustment to make it a Celebration Journal. Throughout the day when something strikes me as worth celebrating…no matter how small…I jot it down in my journal. Each night just before bed, I review the day’s list and quietly celebrate my good fortune.

For this month’s Celebration blog post, I have decided to share with you one item from each day of my Celebration Journal.

May means Mother’s Day and year-end activities at the grandchildren’s schools, which equals lots of opportunities for family fun time. It’s Friday again! Time to reflect on the good things that happened during the week and share the joy. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that I ran the Bear Lake Half, but since I’ve gone on about that ad nauseam, I’ll focus on the fabulous “book ends” to that day….

  1. What a wonderful month of celebrations! We celebrated seeing friends of our we hadn’t seen in over a year! We also celebrated my son’s and mine arrival in north carolina for the week with a big family party seeing my sisters and their kids and my aunt for the first time in a few years.

    1. Thank you Joanne. It has been a truly wonderful month. It sounds like you also had a good one…meeting up with friends and family members you haven’t seen in quite some time. Here’s to a marvelous March!

  2. What a fun month you’ve had! I’m glad I got to take part in some of it.

Really good sleep is rare for me, so even fairly good sleep is celebrated!

I celebrated my birthday with my kids and grandkids, girls dinner with my sisters, and a lunch date with my girlfriend. It was all about family, friends and food! ♥️

    1. I hear you on the sleep, Cindy. That’s why a couple of good night’s in a row make it on my celebration list every time! And any month that’s full of family, friends, and food is a good one in my book. Here’s hoping March is just as enjoyable!

  3. How lovely to have something to be grateful for and to celebrate from every single day. I think we forget how blessed we are and that there’s always something to be thankful for – even if it’s a warm cuppa, and especially time with loved ones. A wonderful month indeed!

  4. I love your WOTY! It’s such a good word. You had much to celebrate, but I didn’t know you had a great-grandbaby! Lucky you! We celebrated Mike’s birthday with a surprise party. All the kids came and hung out, ate cake. Two sets stayed for pizza. It really was a wonderful day. Then, we went to a different surgeon for a second opinion on his hips. He’s already been scheduled for a hip revision on March 10th so I’m oh so very grateful for this. I have hope life will get back to some kind of normalcy in a few months.

    1. Thanks, Marsha. I am having a good time with CELEBRATE as a word of the year. I can hardly believe we have a great grandbaby either, but it’s a lot of fun. It sounds like you had a great birthday party at your house. I’m sending wishes, positive thoughts, and prayers…all the good stuff…for Mike’s hip revision.

  5. I loved this one ” Appreciating that the traffic gods were with me”! I’m going to have to watch for that one….it’s tourist season and about to get worse with spring breaks coming.
I am still doing a monthly “I did it list” and this month added Ta-Da to the top of the page – a celebration of the month.
