A short thought for today

I came across this quote recently, and it spoke to me. I just had to share it with you.

Fall in love with your journey, not your plans. If you’re able to accomplish this, you will live a fulfilling life brimming with excitement and new opportunities.

Life’s journey is full of twists and turns…those the Universe puts uninvited in the way of our best-laid plans…and, if we’re open to them, those interesting detours we stumble upon and willingly explore.

Either way, life truly is more fulfilling…and interesting…if we don’t fall too deeply in love with our plans. So, yes, go ahead and plan. Just don’t get overly attached to those plans. Be open. Be curious. Enjoy the journey.

Your turn

That’s all from me for now. What do you have planned for today? Are you open to a change in those plans?

  • The call of the trail

Can something be both glorious and awful all at the same time? If you’re a runner, you know the answer to that question is a resounding yes! Before today, I hadn’t gone on a single run in more than a year, and I haven’t run regularly since pre-COVID. But for some reason the trail has…

Happy Friday friends! I hope this week brought many smiles to your face. Mine brought more hiking (two in one week!) and a surprise visit from a friend. What could be better than that? Information about menopause and perimenopause is everywhere, but what exactly are they? And what can you do to alleviate the symptoms?  I’m going to do my best to answer those questions today. • Race recap: Bear Lake Half-marathon

I did it! I ran the Bear Lake Half-marathon last Saturday—and I can still walk today, so mission accomplished. 1. Hi Christie – I’m a planner (can’t help myself!) I think it smooths the way a little for my journeys. That being said, sometimes we have to just go with the flow and let life take us to the next stop along the way. I’m at another fork in the road and it was one where not much planning happened – just a ‘readiness for what’s next’ feeling. More on that on the blog in the next few weeks. Thanks for a great quote.

    1. I’m a planner too, Leanne, and I believe planning can lead to wonderful things as well…not to mention peace of mind. The important thing for me is to not get so attached to my plans that if they go awry, I’m overly upset by that, or if something else intriguing comes along, I won’t change my plans. I’m looking forward to hearing where this next fork in the road takes you!

  2. Speaking metaphorically and despite meticulous planning, I’m one of those people who must enjoy the journey so much that I frequently get lost or deliberately take scenic detours. It certainly makes routine trips (think supermarkets) more fun but also explains why I start so much and finish so little!

  3. I like the quote and agree with it. I often remind myself that “Plans change. Often.” As for today’s plans, I need to get some plants transplanted into sunnier spots so if it doesn’t rain that’s where you’ll find me today, in the garden. Unless, of course, I’m not.

  4. Waaaaa. But like Leanne, I am a planner. And love a good, solid routine. LONG for routine days. My WOTY for 2022 was flow. But good grief, it is so hard for me to go with the flow. Ha!! And I think I am getting more cantankerous in my old age. How much more content I might be if I just didn’t make too many plans or set up impossible expectations. Ha, I would be a completely different person!!

    1. I am a planner by nature too, Leslie. I still like to make my plans, but I am working on not getting so bent out of shape when things don’t go as planned. It’s definitely a work in progress.

  5. I love the quote Christie, so much that I used it for a piece of content on LinkedIn. It is exactly how I look at life these days (post 50) and it’s stood me in great stead 🙂
