6 cheerful spring quotes to make you smile

Spring…the season of new beginnings and revived energy…is here. Astronomically at least, even if Mother Nature isn’t onboard quite yet. I’m ready…ready for warmer days, flowers, birdsong…ready for the renewed energy, hope, and anticipation that come with the earth’s reawakening.

While I wait for the weather to catch up to the calendar, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite spring quotes and photos from years past. (I hope my friends in the Southern Hemisphere will indulge me and that you are just as eager for autumn as I am for spring.)

Yellow daffodils.

It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”

The beautiful spring came, and when nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.”

~Harriet Ann Jacobs

Spring’s greatest joy beyond a doubt is when it brings the children out.”

~Edgar Guest

  1. “Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil.” Now that is a thought and a half. I have a love/hate relationship with spring. In theory I adore what it stands for, new beginnings, but in practice I’m allergic to it so spend a lot of my time sneezing and wheezing and muttering about pollen. 🤧

  2. Yay, spring! We have had a lot of rain but not the deluge other areas of California have had. The rain here has been very well-received and the buds are starting to bud.

The first spring “quote” that comes to mind was the silly one my mother used to say: “Spring has sprung, spring has sprung, the bird is on the wing. My word, how absurd, I thought the wing was on the bird.”

    1. That saying made me laugh, Janis. We are getting a lot of rain also. So far, no flooding in our immediate area, but we are preparing for a heavy spring runoff with all the snow in Utah’s mountains.

  3. I’m one of those Southern Hemispherians heading into Autumn. I still enjoyed your Spring quotes and pics because your weather tends to be more extreme than ours and I know a lot of you have been counting down to the weather warming up a bit. In reverse, we’re counting down to some cooler days and nights – I sleep a lot better when the weather is cooler. Happy Spring!

    1. If our cool temperatures were closer to yours, Leanne, I’d look forward to them too! I agree with you that cooler temps are better for sleeping than too hot for sure. I do love the transition seasons–autumn and spring.

  4. What a joyful post. I like the quote about spring brining the children out. So true. It’s like we all wake up again after a long, cold hibernation. We have seen signs of spring and then seen those signs blown away by wind and nipped by frost. But I think maybe this week we will finally move fully into spring with no looking back.

I am reminded of Wren and hoping she is doing well.

    1. I liked that quote too, Leslie. There is nothing like children’s laughter to cheer a person up. We are still 10-15 degrees cooler than normal around here, so while I know spring is out there somewhere, we aren’t really feeling it yet.

Thanks for asking about Wren, who is doing well. They have had several clean scans now!

  5. Springtime is my absolute favorite season! I’m so excited it is upon us again, after a very long winter.
I mostly just can’t believe that the twins are going to be turning one in a couple of weeks. That is mind boggling. What a year!

    1. Hello Liz! I too love spring, and this extreme winter has made me long for it even more. I can hardly believe it has been a year since the twins were born. Your little family has had an eventful year for sure. I love you all!

  6. It’s funny, spring flowers are my favourites, but autumn is my preferred season. I guess that means I have two seasons in the year when I feel there is something to celebrate.

Lovely photos and gorgeous quotes, thank you for the visual feast Christie 🙂

  7. I’m very ready for spring too, sis! Loved the pictures and the quotes. Our flowers are definitely trying to bloom. Now if the temp would just warm up a little…. 💚💗💛

  8. The spirits are always lifted spring Christie. I loved your photos. I suspect you are more excited about spring than I am about autumn. I do love autumn but it always reminds me that
Winter isn’t too far away. I’m not a fan of winter

    1. I feel the same as you, Jennifer. I love autumn, but it precedes my least favorite season. With spring, I love the season itself and the fact that I’ve just made it through the winter and it’s behind me for a while.

  9. That was so lovely to view and read. Spring brings smiles and hope…and yes, we are sliding into cooler days and nights, and shorter ones too as daylight saving ends at Easter. We are looking forward to seeing Autumn leaves too.

Thanks for linking up your post for this week’s Wednesday’s Words and Pics at Denyse Whelan Blogs. Your presence in the WWandP community is valued. I hope to see you next week! Denyse.

  10. Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons, too Christie. Your daffodils made me smile and remind me of my Mum. Thank you for some inspiration as we enter a new season. I’m heading into Autumn although Mother Nature hasn’t read the email yet as it is still so very hot and humid. Have a lovely week. #WWandP

    1. I do love daffodils, Sue. They are so pretty, and of course, typically the first flowers to make an appearance in the spring. I hope you have a beautiful autumn and that things start to cool down for you. We are still receiving a lot of snow in Utah. Mother Nature seems to be on her own timeline this year.

  11. Such lovely quotes and images Christie! It’s coming into autumn here for us but I’ll be heading to England in mid-May for a few months, so I’ll have an extra burst of spring weather rather than heading into winter! I can’t wait 🙂
