Thank you notes – March 2023

It’s been a while since I published a Thank You Notes post. It’s not that I haven’t had plenty to be grateful for…I just haven’t been taking many photos, and since my Thank You Notes posts are built around my photo library, that’s a problem.

It’s time to correct that. I created the monthly Thank You Notes series to help me relive the happy moments, savor the gratitude, and share them with you. I hope they also inspire you to think about what you have to be grateful for and share them with us. So let’s get started.

Thank you Southern Utah…

Silver Mine Trail in Southern Utah.

…for providing comfortable walking weather while Old Man Winter maintains its vice-like grip on Northern Utah. I needed this more than I can say.

Coral Canyon Trail and Silver Mine Trail markers.

…And for so many beautiful trails from which to choose.

I could go on and on about how much I love these views, but I’ll stop here and move on.

Thank you All That’s Jas…

Mediterranean chicken and red potatoes.

…for the delicious Mediterranean Sheet Pan Chicken And Potatoes recipe…

Beef stroganoff soup.

…and this one for Beef Stroganoff Soup, which she recommended from Cookie Rookie. One of the things I wanted to do in retirement was to cook more, specifically to try new recipes. Both of these were simple to make and delicious to eat!

Thank you Buddy Dog…

…for being an excellent foot warmer…

…a constant entertainer…

Dog curled up on a blanket.

…and a marvelous example of how to spend a rainy afternoon.

Thank you jigsaw puzzles…

Completed jigsaw puzzle of a country cabin.
Completed jigsaw puzzle of a barn in autumn.

…for an additional rainy-day option. We’ve certainly had lots of those days to fill this month.

Thank you Cosmo Nails

Mint green fingernails.

…for the St. Paddy’s Day nails and the enjoyable conversation while I got them done.

Thank you Leanne at Cresting the Hill and Faigie at Creativity Reignited

Water color markers and mixed media notebook.

…for the motivation to try something new…doodling with watercolor markers. I’ve never considered myself artistic, and in fact, I can’t even draw a stick figure! But doodling with a focus on enjoying the process rather than the final outcome is fun…and yet another good rainy-day activity.

  1. Hi Christie – I always love your thank you notes. All the small things that bring joy add up to a lot of positivity when we look back on them don’t they. I’m so glad my post with Faigie got your creativity flowing – I always find that it’s fun to play around with colours and to let go of expectations. After a lifetime of assuming I didn’t have any artistic ability, it’s been lovely to experiment and to do it for me – not for what others might like or not like. Have fun with those brush pens – and maybe you can share one of your creations in a future post….

    1. There is always something to be grateful for, isn’t there, Leanne. I have always loved colors and trying different combinations of color. It’s the shapes I struggle with when trying to make my own art. I do enjoy looking at others’ creations, including your collages.

  2. Hi Christie, I’m sitting here waiting my turn for some “beauty therapy”, while you are having yours. I’m thankful for AquaVie Day spa and that we could come together! 💗 As always, I enjoyed your pictures.

  3. Hi Christie, I often make sheet pan vegetables, but I’ve never considered adding chicken to make it a complete meal. Great idea. Love your St. Patty’s nails.

  4. What made you smile in March? I read a history book about Wicked Women from my state and one was from the small town I grew up in. She was decades before me but I knew the streets and places mentioned in the book. I’ve never been that connected to history before.

Are you artistic? What’s your favorite medium? I am creative but not artistic.

What is the weather like where you live? We had early daffodils bloom outside. They usually show up in April so to see them juxtaposed again leafless trees was very pretty.

    1. Something else we have in common, Ally. I also consider myself creative, but not artistic, and I love daffodils…partly because they are so pretty, but also because they are typically the first thing to bloom each spring, when I am craving color!

  5. Christie, Lovely to see your gratitude posting again. They always inspire me to take more photos and also remind me how much I too have to be thankful for. March was a challenging month for me, but even so, I have a lot to be thankful for as well. A good reminder!

  6. It’s funny you saying old man winter has a grip on Northern Utah still – we’ve been complaining that we just wish summer would lose its grip already lol. Great views for your hikes and beef stroganoff soup. What’s not to like? Thanks for linking up with us this month.

  7. Hi Christie thank you for joining us at What’s Been On Your Calendar? to share your thank you notes for March. So much to be grateful for. My daughter took up large jigsaw puzzles during COVID and has continued with them. Her sons help her and she finds them relaxing. I’ve reintroduced my Home Restaurant Date Nights where I plan and prep a main course and dessert for us. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. Southern Utah looks lovely and I love the photo with the clouds in closeup – I’m a cloud fan! Enjoy April and I look forward to reading what you have been up to during the month. xx

    1. Hello Sue. Thanks for hosting What’s Been on your Calendar? It’s always enjoyable to see what everyone has been up to. I love the idea of Home Restaurant Date Nights. I may just incorporate that into my calendar. Thanks for the inspiration.

  8. Lovely reading and viewing here Christie! Thank you for doing your ‘thank you notes’. The scenes where you live are amazing! Loved the stories behind your pics too.

    Denyse.

  9. Those are some lovely trails for walking. A scenery I’m totally not used to! Those jigsaw puzzles have some beautiful pictures.
I assume I’m artistic since I’ve chosen a design career. But I only do digital illustration, using Adobe Illustrator. I make minimalistic illustrations of different things there – mostly musical instruments. I’m fiddling with drawing using the Apple Pencil on my iPad too, and enjoy it a lot but it’s a lot more difficult than doing it in the computer! Here we’re in spring and the weather just turned quite nice after months of wind, rain and too cold temperatures.

    1. Thank you Susanne. We feel truly blessed to have homes in the Salt Lake Valley and Southern Utah. The scenery is so different; we get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Though, today it is snowing, and we would prefer to be back in Southern Utah at the moment.

I definitely think digital illustration is artistic. And I can imagine the Apple Pencil is much different from Illustrator. Good luck with your endeavors.

      Enjoy the spring weather!

  10. This is a great idea for a post theme. I am so grateful right now for the little things in life that bring me joy. Those trails are beautiful! I was in Park City last summer. My nail place is also called cosmo spelled Kosmo 🙂 Happy to connect with you!

    1. Hello Deborah and welcome! I love Park City. There is so much to see and do…and eat. I hope you had a good time. Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to getting to know you.

  11. Hi Christie, I always enjoy reading gratitude posts and your photos show it all so well! Lots of things brought me joy in March, time alone at the beach, time with my daughter and her family, riding my bike. Good on your for being creative and trying the doodling activity, you’re so creative! Thanks for joining us for WBOYC and hope spring is springing over there for you 🙂

    1. Hello Debbie. I’m glad you experienced so much joy in March. It sounds lovely. We are in the midst of a snowstorm right now, but the forecast is for more spring-like weather, so my fingers are crossed! Thank you for hosting the calendar link-up. It’s always a pleasure to participate.
