What brings you here today?…or…Queries that point to this blog
Today, I have a question for those of you who blog. Do you ever wonder how your readers found you? I do. Most of the people who regularly engage with this blog are either personal friends, family members, or other bloggers. But what about those who come to me through a Google search? What exactly were they searching for?

How do you decide what to blog about or which blogs to read?
Take-aways
It’s nice to know that different spellings and variations on the mindbodygreen queries all pointed to my review of that course. Combined, those queries brought the most visitors to my site. That lines up with the fact that My experience with the mindbodygreen Health Coach Certification Program was my most frequently-visited blog post in the past 12 months.
What did surprise me, though, was the top result. I did not realize that so many people were out there searching for what types of blogs people like to read. I’m guessing the searchers are mostly other bloggers considering what topics they want to address. You just never know when you sit down to write which post will resonate with other people.
Your turn
- What Google query has received the most clicks on your blog?
- How do you decide what to blog about or which blogs to read?
- Do you pay attention to your stats on Google Search Console or Google Analytics?
- What else is on your mind? Anything at all; I just love to hear from you.

Well these questions prompted me to add Google Ananlytics to my blog as I realized I didn’t know the answer to any of the ones you posed. I know I used to have many of these same stats but no longer did so I fell down a small rabbit hole learning how to add these things back onto/into my blogging. I mean I never really did much with the information but it was neat to see. I know for a long time “man template” was a huge google search that led people to my blog– such a weird and random search… that I’m still not convinced even led people to an actual template of a man. I think I just mentioned that we used a man template for one of our Santa/Christmas crafts.
I’m like you, Joanne, I don’t do a lot with the stats, mostly because I’m not trying to monetize my blog. Still, it’s interesting to see what resonates with people. That is so funny that “man template” brought a lot of people to your blog…maybe because there are fewer websites with that term, so anyone who was searching it saw your blog.
Hi Christie – my post on neurographic art is by far the most searched and clicked post I’ve written. It’s something I still do regularly and I think there’s a lot of people who are interested in it and in zen tangles. I have Google Analytics connected to my blog but don’t use it much because I have a stats page as part of my blog dashboard if I want to look back.
In regard to reading blogs, I read those who I’m friends with, and any that cover something I’m interested in. I tend towards podcasts for information rather than blogs, but I love the community that still exists around blogging – and having somewhere to connect and share my thoughts.
I remember that post, Leanne. It was quite intriguing. I can see that there would be a broad audience for that topic. I’m like you in that most of the blogs I read are those for which I have a connection with the blogger and then a few that have specific information I’m querying. When I do searches on hikes that interest me or places I want to visit, I often find that bloggers give the best practical information.
I’ve never written a blog, nor do I really follow any. A long time ago I followed Hungry Runner Girl, because my daughters liked it and that made me curious. Of course I follow your blog because I know (and love) the author, but also just because I enjoy it! 😊
I think you were the one who told me about Hungry Runner Girl. I still check in on her occasionally. Remember when we met Janae at the Utah Valley Marathon? Thanks for being a loyal reader…and sister!
I have no idea, and I really don’t want to know because I think I’d cry at the answer. But, your search was interesting…especially the number one! I honestly don’t remember how I found you, but I certainly am glad I did!

Thank you, Marsha. I’m glad we found each other too. If I remember correctly, it was through a comment you left on someone else’s blog. Sometimes if a comment catches my attention, I will visit that person’s site. Either that, or a link up!
Hi Christie, it is interesting how people find our blogs and what the most clicked on posts are over time. It never ceases to amaze me at time at just what people are looking for! I’m off to have a look at my results 🙂
Isn’t it, though, Debbie? I’m curious if there are any unexpected queries that brought people to your blog. If there are, please share!
