Friday favorites: sweet, sweet summertime

Here it is, the first Friday favorites of sweet, sweet summertime.

Few things say summer like watermelon. I got a jump on the season with watermelon themed fingernails. As always, this design was hand painted by Meghan at Color My Nails.

And, of course, summer means weekends at Hawkes Landing, complete with little furry visitors. This one is stealing from the bird feeder. We wondered why all the squirrels around here were so fat. If we want any feathered visitors, I guess we’ll have to move the bird feeder further away from the deck.

I’m also in love with the wild flowers springing up all over and in every color.

Speaking of color, the summertime skies at Hawkes Landing are beautiful too.

As is the colorful fresh fruit salad.

Meanwhile, back at home, the kiddos are out of school, so the opportunities to meet for lunch come more frequent. This week, I met four of the 10 grandchildren and their mothers at Wingers. (Looks like Wells got caught sneaking a look at his mobile phone, which was specifically banned from the table. Oops!)

That’s it for me this week.

How did you celebrate the beginning of summer?

Do you love all things watermelon–or not so much?

How do you feel about the heat? Would you rather be too hot or too cold?

  1. So fun!
I love watermelon! I’m planning on Elsie’s first birthday party to be watermelon themed and have matching nails!
I love summer and heat. A couple of days this past week were pretty hard to handle, but I’d take it over winter any day.

    1. That sounds so cute. Elsie is one lucky girl! I’m with you on the heat. I prefer it–to an extent. I’d prefer not to see the 100-degree days, but I’ll take those over the cold, dark winter.

  2. Oh, Christie, that photo of the summertime sky is poster-perfect. Love that the flag is in the picture, too. Nothing better.

Your watermelon nails are adorable. The colors are cool and unexpected. I need to branch out beyond pink.
