I couldn’t have said it better myself: 5 of my favorite love quotes

In sticking with this month’s theme of loving kindness, I thought I’d share some of my favorite quotes on the topic…covering everything from self-love to love of all humankind and everything in between.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Self-care is never a self-ish act. It is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.

“Self-care is never a selfish act—it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.” ~Parker Palmer

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love makes the ride worthwhile.

“Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”  ~Franklin P. Jones

A single act of kindess throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.

“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” ~Amelia Earhart

Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are.

“Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are.” ~Harold S. Kushner

Love is such a powerful force. It's there for everyone to embrace--that kind of unconditional love for all of humankind.

“Love is such a powerful force. It’s there for everyone to embrace-that kind of unconditional love for all of humankind. That is the kind of love that impels people to go into the community and try to change conditions for others, to take risks for what they believe in.” ~Coretta Scott King

And remember, if you’d like to join me in making Valentine’s Day a day of loving kindness, here’s the I plan.

  1. I like your love quotes, I’d say I love them but that’d be too heavy-handed.

My favorite quote is from Ram Dass and is the one I used today on my blog post: “We’re all just walking each other home.”

I took my multiple vitamin today which I often forget to do, but consider to be self-care when I do remember.

  2. Hi Christie – I especially liked the last two quotes – love is definitely about who you are and what you’re prepared to share of yourself to others. We must have been on the same wavelength this week, I shared some quotes on Equanimity on the blog this week – and included my all time favourite quote from Albert Camus. Have a great and love-ly week x

    1. That’s one of the lessons I’ve learned over the years, Leanne, to give without having the gift tied to a particular outcome or response. I’m headed over to see your quotes soon. It seems we are often on the same wavelength. I hope you have a lovely week as well.

  3. They are beautiful quotes you have curated there Christie. Thank you so much for sharing the loving kindness of Valentine’s Day.

I cannot think of a specific quote but I do believe, from experience, that long and lasting relationships based on love need to also have a friendship that is unbreakable. I guess I’m speaking as a 53 years married woman and we have been each other’s best friends for life as well as being married and in love.

That was a bit of a story!

  4. These are such meaningful quotes about love – thank you for sharing them Christie. I’m afraid I am without a current favourite to share with you, so I’ll share one of my coach’s favourites: Clothes aren’t going to change the world, the women who wear them will (attributed to Anne Klein).

I’ve had an interesting week or so, following a massive realisation on something which has negatively impacted me for a long time. I’ll probably blog about it in due course once I’ve found the right words. The realisation will certainly add to my ability to self-care more effectively.

  5. Hi Christie – what a beautiful bunch of quotes. I’m quite partial to a good quote. They can be so inspiring! I like many but this one came to mind “You were born to be real, not to be perfect”. I remind myself of that one often cos I can tend to be very hard on myself with high expectations. Thanks so much for linking up with #WWWhimsy – have a wonderful weekend ahead! xo

    1. That’s a good one, Min. I think we can all use an occasional reminder to let perfection go and focus on what is. Thanks, as always, for hosting the #WWWhimsy, especially considering all you are going through right now. I hope you find some time to enjoy this weekend as well.

    1. Yes, that’s a beautiful quote, Deb. Just in case someone hasn’t heard that one, here it is: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” A great life mission for all of us!
