Thank you notes – June 2023

It’s easy to get so caught up in the hustle of life that we forget to appreciate the small miracles that happen every day. I created the monthly Thank You Notes post to help me relive the happy moments, savor the gratitude, and share them with you. I hope they also inspire you to think about what you have to be grateful for and share them with us.

Your turn

That’s it for my June Thank You Notes. In case you are curious, they are based on my camera roll for the month, so there are a lot of other things for which I am grateful, but if I didn’t snap a photo, they didn’t make the cut.

Now it’s your turn:

  1. What are you grateful for today?
  2. What was the subject of your last photo?
  3. What else is on your mind? Anything at all; I just love to hear from you.

  1. I so enjoyed these pictures. That rainbow was stunning! And what darling granddaughters-I’m glad I got to see Piper! ☺️

  2. This was a very sweet “Thank you Notes” thank you Christie!

I am grateful because I found a sanctuary at Point Pelee National Park. Since moving here (south-west Ontario), I’ve been missing Presqu’ile and its lagoon terribly but this week I settled in at Sanctuary Pond at Pelee and it definitely worked its magic! I’m also grateful (beyond measure) to my medical team.

Also on my mind are the wildfires raging in Northern Ontario (and other parts of Canada). It is scary, how quickly they bloom out of control and how long it takes and what a difficult and dangerous battle it is to knock them down. Respect to all the firefighters (we have teams here helping us from all over the world) and prayers that they all stay safe.

Last picture was a new-to-me wildflower, the Moth Mullein (Verbascum blattaria). It is a very pretty yellow flower (much like a delphinium) with a purple centre. Beautiful!

Thanks again Christie! It’s a paradise you’re living in, no doubt about it!

    1. Hello Pamela. I looked up the Point Pelee National Park and the Moth Mullein. Both look lovely. I also have been watching the wildfires in Ontario and now one in California. I am grateful for the firefights and wish them all the best. My husband and I are traveling to Victoria, BC next month. It will be my first time visiting Canada.

      1. Oh, Christie, you’ll absolutely love Victoria. I’ve two close friends who live on the island and, when visiting, I’ve always found the people to be kind and friendly and welcoming and of course the scenery is gobsmackingly beautiful. Take great care of each other and have a wonderful time! xx

        1. That’s great to hear, Pam. I am so looking forward to this trip…for the opportunity to spend time with good friends and to see another beautiful part of the world.

  3. Much to be thankful for. Your granddaughters are cuties and their strawberry lemonade bars look so moist and delicious. I’ll take a couple, please!!

We need rain desperately. I am watching clouds and wind blow in but I fear it is all without a drop of rain. Just look at all the goodness that came from your rain shower.

I am grateful that PC’s surgery is behind us. And that we have the rest of the summer to get him back to 110%.

    1. Hello Leslie. The bars were delicious and not hard to make. For a while, we were having afternoon thundershowers daily, but things have definitely dried up the last couple of weeks. I’m sending lots of healing energy to PC and hoping the surgery does the trick. Sending love to you too! XO

    1. Aren’t the dogs so cute together, Donna? They made quite the pair, especially if anyone dare come to the door or even walk by the front yard while the door was open. 😂

    1. Thank you, Leanne. I do sometimes miss having little ones in the family, but teenagers are a lot of fun too. I’m glad you recovered so quickly, and enjoy that new kitchen!

    1. Yes, the bars were wonderful! In this area, we have to worry more about rabbits eating the plants than deer, but we haven’t had much of a rabbit problem either this year. Maybe with all the moisture we’ve had, they are finding plants elsewhere. Whatever the reason, I’ll enjoy it!

  4. What a lovely reminder that we should be grateful Christie. I’m grateful I’ve got an overseas holiday coming up. I haven’t been looking forward to it but I’ve had to take a mental health day off work today as I was becoming very angry and impatient, so I realise I do probably need that break.

And we’ve had some amazing sunsets of late so I’m definitely grateful to mother nature as well.

  5. I love your Thanyou Notes Christie. They are always a reminder for me to stop and think of all that I am grateful for in my life. I have been trying to record my gratitude in One Note App. My plan was to do it daily, but I ocassionally forget about it, so just record about 3 or 4 days each week. My entry today is that I am grateful for a beautiful sunny day at the end of the first month of winter. To have a day off today, to enjoy the sunshine is another reason to be grateful.

    1. Thank you Jennifer. I write in my 3 Good Things journal most nights, which I think is similar to what you are doing in your app. Like you, some nights I forget or think of it after I’m in bed. On those nights, I do a mental list of three good things that happened that day. Sunshine definitely makes me smile!

  6. Love your gratitude posts. I am definitely going to have to up my picture taking if I ever want to replicate your approach. I looked and had 8 pictures in June. Yes, 8. And 3 of them made their way into post headers already. There’s definitely more than that I’m thankful for!

Love the rainbow photo – how wonderful to catch it on film.

    1. Hello Pat. Sometimes, if taking a photo is inconvenient or not appropriate, I think to myself that I am taking a mental photograph, but of course, those are a little harder to share on a blog. 🙂

  7. Thank you Christie for reminding me to say thank you for the little things. It looks like you had a great month and well done for getting to no.1 in your age group so another thank you should go to the filters lol. Thanks for linking up with us.

  8. I always look forward to your Thank You Notes Christie and this did not disappoint. Quite the list of things to be grateful for and about.
Enjoying the company of grandchildren growing into teen years and beyond is something we are getting to do now we are back home in Sydney much closer to them.
Yesterday we had our 26 and 24 yr old granddaughters here for morning tea! It seems a minute ago we were caring for them in their pre school and school years!!
    Take care
    Denyse.

    1. Goodness me, I am late in my reply to your post for Wednesday’s Words and Pics. Thank you so much for being part of the community! Denyse.

    2. I really do have so much to be grateful for, Denyse, and teenage grandchildren are right up there at the top of the list. I love that you are getting to spend more time with your growing grandchildren as well. As you pointed out, the time just flies by. More than half of our grandchildren are graduated from high school now, and the oldest is getting married this fall.

  9. What a lovely idea to keep a note of all the things to be grateful for – and you had a lot to make note of this month!

  10. These are all great thank you notes Christie, I love how you find gratitude in everyday things, I tend to do that too :). That double rainbow is fabulous.

    1. Thank you Deb. It’s the small moments that make up the majority of our lives, so I’m glad we’ve both learned to take note of them. The rainbow really was amazing.

  11. That double rainbow is fantastic!! And as I’m just back from my walk, my last photo is of rainbow lorikeets eating from a kooky looking flower…#WBOYC

  12. Hi Christie, another beautiful Thank you notes and isn’t Mother Nature incredible? Lovely that you had time with your granddaughters. I love baking with my grandsons and yesterday we made chocolate chip cookes and meusli slice. Have a lovely July and thank you for reminding us that there is always something or someone to be grateful for. #WBOYC.
