Thank you notes: little bits of gratitude from March 2024

It’s easy to get so caught up in the hustle of life that we forget to appreciate the small miracles that happen every day. I created the monthly Thank You Notes post to help me relive the happy moments, savor the gratitude, and share them with you. I hope they also inspire you to think about what you have to be grateful for and share them with us.

Thank you spring skies…

…for the beautiful wispy clouds that create an interesting texture, but still let the sun shine through.

Thank you Wordle…

…for the daily brain test and for allowing me to finally break my previous streak of 112 wins.

Thank you Buddy Dog…

…for hanging out with me and being such entertaining company.

Thank you sun and rain combination…

…for creating this interesting pattern on the seat of my car, which provided me with an unexpected jolt of joy on a rainy day.

Thank you Mallory and Sacred Energy…

…for the amazing sound bath; it was just what I needed.

Thank you family…

Your turn

And finally, thank you to all of you who took the time to read this post and to share a comment. In case you need a little inspiration, here are some questions to get you started:

  1. What are you feeling grateful for today?
  2. Is there anyone you would like to say thank you to?
  3. What else is on your mind? Anything at all; I just love to hear from you.

  1. Hi Christie – I love that they’re all small things but they add up to a big feeling of gratitude and happiness. If we look for all those small moments, we can’t help but be grateful for the life we have. BTW have you tried the NY Times Connections puzzle – I do it + the Wordle each day and it’s a fun challenge without being too consuming. x

    1. Hi Leanne. I have found that happiness truly comes from appreciating the many small moments in life. I had not tried the Connections puzzle. Thanks for the tip. I’ve added it to my daily practice. It’s not as simple as it originally appeared when I first looked at it. Definitely a fun challenge.

  2. Thank YOU again Christie for reminding us of gratitude…

I do write each day about what I am grateful for. Sometimes, because I am still in bed after meditating, it might be as simple as “my comfy bed” and other times it will be something significant like “grateful to have had a better relationship with my father as he grew much older”.

I’d thank (and I will) my husband more for the patience he is showing while I am in the up and down mode to do with grieving.

The sky being blue is such a wonderful sign of warm weather ahead for you!

    Denyse x

    1. I keep a daily gratitude journal too, Denyse, and like yours, mine is a mix of simple and significant things. A patient husband is indeed something to be thankful for. I’m sure yours will appreciate the acknowledgement of your appreciation of him.

  3. Those spring skies (the whole 3 days we got to see them not chuck full of storm clouds!) made me smile too. I love your thank you notes post; it’s such a cute idea. It really is the simple little things that often add up to wonderful memories.

    1. We’ve had mostly rainy days so far this spring as well, Joanne. I think that’s why I so appreciated a little blue sky. I agree with you that it is recognizing the little things that builds happiness and fond memories. Here’s to more sunny days ahead for both of us!

  4. Although it is raining here (again), I am grateful for the increased light – both from Spring having sprung and from having had my second cataract removed. I am also grateful for how gleaming white now looks post op – it was so striking when I did my most recent batch of laundry.

    1. I can relate, Debs. It is rainy here again too. I’m hoping for another beautiful blue day soon. I’m so glad your cataract surgery went well and that you can appreciate the simple beauty of gleaming white laundry.

  5. Hi Christie, I’ve not heard of a Sound Bath but it does sound like a very relaxing experience. We have blue skies today after several dismal, rainy days. Heading into Winter, the evenings and mornings are starting to feel crisp – I love them! Have a great weekend. #wwwhimsy

  6. Hi Christie – those are all such lovely things to be thankful for! I resonate with the sun/rain pattern you got in the car giving you joy and I LOVE sound baths or sound healings – so relaxing. Things like that bring me joy too! I think what stands out for me as a little ray of joy during these difficult days I’m walking through at the moment was yesterday while over packing up at the family home, there was a little bird on the windowsill looking at me and chirping away. He was sheltering from the rain but I also like to think it was a little sign sent from Dad as reassurance that we’re doing all the right things and that we’ll be ok. That’s such a lovely thought so that gave me a little bit of pep yesterday! Have a wonderful Easter and thank you for linking up with #WWWhimsy! xo

    1. Hi Min. I actually came out to the sun/rain pattern after the sound bath, so it was a beautiful day. I saw your bird video on IG and loved it. I had a similar experience with butterflies right after my brother died, and I took comfort in telling myself it was a message from him that he was flying free and yet still with us. Happy Easter to you and yours!

  7. Hi Christie. I’m grateful that in spite of all the chaos going on in the world, I have a home that’s paid for, and I still have the ability to travel. Thank you for reminding us to keep counting our blessings.

    1. Yes, Debbie, the sound bath was heavenly, as well as time with the family. Now that we are moving back and forth between two homes, I especially appreciate the time I have with family when we are in town. I know your family is spread out, so you can appreciate that feeling.

  8. I love your gratitude posts. They always make me slow down and think, “Me, too”! I do try and do a daily gratitude, so some recent ones for me: back to cardio drumming after a 2 week pause (classes cancelled because room used for election, then our travel, then other things booked on my calendar!); our travel went smoothly and I had lovely time with my family (siblings, niece & nephew in law, great nieces & nephews); our garden club plant sale was a rousing success (one of those things on my calendar) and folks expressed appreciation for all the effort I put into it; and spring weather has sprung – I love our warm days and cool nights… it won’t last long before we have hot days and warm nights!

  9. I always enjoy your thank you notes! I’m grateful that sometimes happy things happen, even when we’re going through struggles. They usually involve little acts of kindness, both being given and recieved.

    1. Thank you, Cindy. I agree those small acts of kindness are lifesavers during the challenging times, and I’m glad you mentioned that being the giver is something to be thankful for as well. Sometimes the most happiness comes from the things we give. I hope you have a happy Easter!

  10. I’ve stopped doing Wordle but I was talking with a wordle friend about how she has to let me know if she gets it first go (and you can tell me too now). I think that must feel like winning the lotto! And statistically probably the same odds #WWWHimsy (I am feeling grateful that we have 4 days off – even though I have to work a little over the weekend, I feel I’ll ‘catch up’ and so feel less pressure)

  11. This month I am grateful for my
Mother. This March it has been 15 years without her here and I find myself missing her more each year. Her birthday is this week and it reminds me how gentle and kind she was. How much she sacrificed for me and my sisters. How hard she worked to make our home a good place to be. I am inspired by her to be a kinder person, to love my family more and be a good example to them. She isn’t far away and her influence is always with me.

    1. What a lovely tribute to your mother, Becky. She sounds like a wonderful woman. She certainly raised an amazing daughter. I couldn’t ask for a better neighbor or friend.
