Friday favorites

First thing’s first. Let me start this Friday Favorites by saying thank you. My most favorite thing this week was your wonderful, warm response to my letter to Bryan. Your many kind comments carried me through the week. I love you guys!

I was feeling particularly sentimental all week, or as I like to call it “tender.” Translation: I cried at the drop of a hat. My apologies to those who were on the receiving end of that–Seth. Which brings me to the next Friday favorite: seeing Seth for the first time in what feels like forever, but I believe was around 18 months.

Seth & Jessica

He’s been in Vienna singing opera. How cool is that? For a sample (iPhone quality) of his singing, check out my Facebook page. This photo is Jessi hugging him. When I first saw him, I burst into tears. Those tears kept inexplicably returning without warning throughout the night. I’m pretty sure everyone thought I was losing it. (Probably not that far from the truth, but hey!)

The occasion that brought Seth and I together was a family barbecue to celebrate Bryan’s birthday. A giant thank you to Cindy and Mark for hosting the get-together. Here is just a sampling of photos from that event. For the most part, I tried taking spontaneous (unposed) photos. Turns out it’s harder than you’d think to get good ones. Or perhaps it’s the photographer in this case. Anyway, here’s a few that did turn out.

That was the big news of the week, and by the way, the cake was delicious. But I didn’t stop at one piece of cake for the week. The very next day, I enjoyed a slice of Jenny Gustafson’s homemade german chocolate cake.

After all that cake, it’s a good thing I did my Beachbody PiYo workouts. I love PiYo, but it was especially great doing it with my new workout buddy. (I’m going out on a limb posting this unattractive photo of me, but Tessa looked so cute, I couldn’t resist.) She is an impressive athlete–so flexible and strong!

Now, I have a three-day weekend (I took Friday off work), and Larry and I are spending it at Hawkes Landing. Heidi and her family are joining us on Saturday, so I’m sure to have some great things to report in next week’s Friday Favorites!

Your turn–what happy things happened for you this week?

  1. Although bitter sweet the BBQ was definitely a highlight. It was so nice to all be together.
One other fun thing we did was go boating and fishing at Flaming Gorge with friends.
