Well it’s finally here, my favorite season: fall…or autumn…depending on your preference. In fact, this season is so fabulous, it’s the only one deserving of two names. For more on the origins of autumn and fall, check out this usage note from Merriam-Webster. Whatever you call it, ’tis the season of beautiful leaves, cooler days,…
My husband and I recently built a house in southern Utah, roughly 300 miles south of our primary residence. We wanted an escape from the cold, snowy winters without going so far that our family and friends couldn’t easily visit. The house is now fully furnished…well mostly…and we’ve stayed there several times for brief periods….
I sat down to write this morning, somehow ending up scrolling through Facebook (procrastinate much?), and came across this quote. Guilt, regret, resentment, sadness, and all forms of non-forgiveness are caused by too much past and not enough presence. Eckhardt Tolle It struck a chord with me, and I recalled earlier in the week reading…
I have a good life. I have been blessed, and I am deeply grateful…I am. But lately I’ve been feeling out of sorts. There is so much uncertainty…pain…anger…suffering all around. Okay, I know…all of life is uncertain, and no one escapes suffering…but everything feels magnified at the moment. A polarizing presidential election in the middle…
A month ago, I shared my Summer Play List…not a bucket list exactly…just a list of activities to inspire joy during this pandemic summer. I’m happy to report that I have enjoyed several of these activities in the past month. Play list Drink iced coffee. Yes! Have a big salad with all the fixin’s. Not…
In this moment, I am full of gratitude… Gratitude for this computer I am typing on…what a marvel. It’s amazing to my unscientific mind that someone figured this out…created a computer when never there was one before. I am grateful for my fingers, the dexterity to move from key to key with relative ease. Grateful…
I’m baaack! I don’t know if you noticed I was absent last week, but I was. My well had run dry. I needed a weekend laughing and talking with my sisters. I needed to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday. I needed a week spent reading others blogs…soaking in their wisdom and wit without worrying about coming…
Thank you Cindy and Heidi… …for the special deliveries. I hope no one’s keeping track, because I’m pretty sure I’m way behind on the thoughtful gestures. I promise to do better. I couldn’t be more blessed to have you for sisters…and to have both of you living so close. Now if we could just get…
Like all of you, I have plenty of serious things on my mind right now and a whole list of important things needing to be done. What I don’t have enough of is lighthearted playtime. So this summer, instead of a bucket list, I decided to create a play list…not the kind you download on…
Breathe in. Breathe out. I cannot stop this virus from doing what it will do in the world. I cannot make another person wear a mask, practice social distancing, or wash their hands. I cannot stop another’s violence or unkind words. I cannot ensure that my children and grandchildren are safe and happy now and…
