Thanks to everyone that played along with my blog birthday give-away. Yesterday, I conducted the official drawing–the old fashioned way. I wrote down each name on a slip of paper, folded them up, and put them in a Tupperware bowl. Yes, I know there is software that can randomly select a name, but it’s not nearly as…
Today is this blog’s one year anniversary! I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for a full year now. Thank you for hanging in there with me and for all of your kind, encouraging comments. In celebration of this momentous occasion 🙂 I will be sending one of you a gift. Today is the last…
What a wonderful week this has been for me. I hope yours has been happy too. We started out by driving to Hawkes Landing in the rain. Normally, I’d want some sunshine for our weekend, but it’s been so dry lately, the rain was a welcome relief–and the clouds made for a beautiful drive. Every time…
Here’s something you may not know about me: I like BATS. No, not the mammals with webbed wings that hang upside down in caves and are a staple of Halloween movies (though they’re pretty awesome too). For two weeks I’m proclaiming my loyalty loud and clear. (The sugar cookie came from Jenny. Delicious!) Lucky for me, my team prevailed (for the…
I recently read another good book I’d like to share with you. The Good Father, by Noah Hawley. If you’re looking for light-hearted comic relief, this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for an intense, thought-provoking, beautifully written psychological drama, check it out. The Good Father explores the responsibilities and…
It’s Friday again. I hope you had a fantastic week. Here’s a small sampling of my favorite moments since last Friday. It started out with Labor Day weekend at Hawkes Landing. The leaves are turning, and it is absolutely stunning. Charlie was less than enthusiastic about posing for a photo, but he humored me. (What choice…
It’s the day after Labor Day, and therefore, the unofficial beginning of my favorite season—autumn! I love the cool mornings and evenings, the beautiful fall leaves, and all things pumpkin! I loved autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it. ~Lee Maynard While…
